As of September 15, 2023, the National Revenue Authority (NRA) has successfully collected a total of 125 billion old Leones in domestic revenue.

The authority officially announced this remarkable achievement through a post on their social media platform, stating:

“On the 15th of September 2023, the National Revenue Authority (NRA) achieved a significant milestone by successfully collecting a remarkable sum of 125 billion Old Leones in domestic revenue. This accomplishment stands as a testament to the outstanding leadership and unwavering dedication of Commissioner Ibrahim Brima Swarray, who continues to make history through his exceptional contributions to the nation’s economic growth.”

They also praised Commissioner Swarray for his unwavering commitment and accomplishments in bolstering the country’s economy:

“Under the visionary leadership of Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray, the NRA has consistently showcased its dedication to improving the efficiency and transparency of revenue collection. This achievement underscores the NRA’s steadfast commitment to advancing the nation’s economic prosperity and ensuring sustainable development.”

Furthermore, in their social media post, they highlighted their determination in meeting the NRA’s revenue target:

“The collection of 125 billion Old Leones in domestic revenue marks a significant milestone for Sierra Leone. It underscores the resilience and determination of the NRA in achieving revenue targets, despite the challenges posed by the global economic landscape and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.”

The funds collected they said will  contribute to the realization of the government’s development agenda, fostering economic growth, job creation, and poverty reduction. It is through such significant revenue collections that Sierra Leone can continue to progress and thrive as a nation.

They also acknowledge the support and cooperation of the Sierra Leonean public, whose compliance with tax regulations has facilitated this success. It is through their contributions that the NRA can continue to collect revenue efficiently and effectively.
