The National Revenue Authority (NRA) and the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) have joined forces to simplify tax and permit payments for vehicle owners. On April 2nd, 2024, they unveiled a new mobile application, the NRA Payment App (NRA App).

This app follows an announcement by the NRA on March 30th, where they promised a streamlined process for tax and non-tax revenue collection. The NRA App specifically targets owners of commercial motorcycles (Okadas) and commercial tricycles (Kekehs), allowing them to pay their Annual Circulation Permit Levy and Income Taxes for registration.

Mrs. Jeneba J. Bangura, the Commissioner General for NRA, emphasized the user-friendliness of the app. “This initiative is designed to ease the stress of payment and enhance transparency in domestic revenue mobilization,” she stated. She also revealed that the app was piloted at the NRA in 2022 with funding from an African Development Bank Grant.

Rev. Smart Senesie, the Executive Director of SLRSA, echoed the focus on modernization. “This app marks a significant step towards efficiency and user-friendly services,” he said, “benefiting both the citizens and the government.”

The NRA App is now available and citizens can begin using it immediately to pay their relevant taxes and permits.
