The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has informed the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) about Senior Secondary Schools not submitting their continuous assessment grades for over 80,750 candidates that sat the WASSCE.

The MBSSE in a press release dated WEDNESDAY 26TH JULY 2023 informed the General Public that they were informed by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) that Two Hundred and Ninety Six (296) School Leaders have failed to submit the Continuous Assessment Score (CASS) for Eighty Thousand, Seven Hundred and Fifty ( 80,750) candidates who sat to the concluded 2023 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination Council (WASSCE).

They stated that it is a serious omission that may have far-reaching implications for the outcome of overall results for not only the affected candidates but the Country as a whole.

The MBSSE warns the public to know that the Continuous Assessment Score constitutes 30% of the overall grades of the Candidates; the absence of which may have adverse consequences.

In line with the development, the Ministry said they, together with Teaching Service

Commission (TSC) has engaged the Leadership of the Council of Principals of Senior Secondary Schools (CPSS) and given them the deadline of Tuesday 1st August 2023 to prevail on their membership to upload those Scores after consultations and passionate plea with WAEC.

They warn the defaulting School Leaders to therefore effectively utilize this failure which appropriate administrative actions

will be taken in accordance with the applicable laws, rules, and Regulations.

In the end, they called on the public to be informed that the defaulting School Leaders squarely carry the greatest responsibility for any eventual outcome of this unfortunate situation.
