The Sierra Leone Parliament adjourns wedesday 16th August debate after news break of the sudden illness of Hon. Paramount Chief Brima Victor Sidi Kebbie III, representing Pujehun District
The disclosure, brought in by Acting Speaker of Parliament Sengepoh Solomon Thomas, remarked Members of Parliament in a state of astonishment.
Being served as the representative for Pujehun District in Parliament for over two decades, Hon. Paramount Chief Kebbie’s absence due to illness has cast a shadow over the deliberations. The esteemed chief had taken a break from his parliamentary duties between 2018 and 2023, only to return after the General Elections on June 24th, 2023.
The Acting Speaker substantiated that Hon. Chief Kebbie had been present during the first day of debate on the presidential address, which was initiated on Monday, August 14, 2023. On this initial day of conversations, Members of Parliament passionately raised worries about issues impacting their components and urgently called for useful measures to address these pressing matters.
As emotions ran high within the parliamentary chambers, the Acting Speaker appealed to all honourable members present to join in a collective prayer for Hon. Paramount Chief Kebbie’s journey to his ancestors. In a solemn display of unity, prayers were offered, and the session was promptly adjourned.
