The Parliament of Sierra Leone has on Wednesday 13/12/2023 initiated discussions aimed at validating the Legislative Compendium of the Fifth Parliament of the Second Republic of Sierra Leone.

The said Compendium is supported by PNAfrica Sierra Leone Chapter, headquartered in Accra, Ghana.

Momodu Lamin Deen Rogers, Director of Legislative Services got the consultancy for the development of the foremost Legislative Compendium of the Fifth Parliament of the Second Republic of Sierra Leone.

Mr. Rogers is a Legislative Officer of high standings and repute over the years and had served several national and international Committees of Parliament including Information and Communication, Inter-Parliamentary Union and SDGs. It was by no mean feat that he won the consultancy, given his long stay in the Parliamentary Service, spanning over fifteen years now. He is also the West African Representative on the SoCATT Technical Team, Africa Region.

Presenting the Legislative Compendium to Hon. Members and Staff of Parliament for validation, Mr. Rogers said it was a collection of major events including the documentation of the successes and challenges of the Fifth Parliament of the Second Republic of Sierra Leone. Furthermore, he described the Fifth Parliament as a progressive and transformative one.

The Chairman of the Legislative Committee in Parliament, Hon. Abdul Sulaiman Marray-Conteh said the idea of the Legislative Compendium was good and further described the Fifth Parliament as progressive and innovative.

Deputy Opposition Leader, Hon. Daniel Brima Koroma said that he was supportive of the inception of the validation exercise and promised to do more to make the document better for purposes of records and posterity.

Khadija Bangura, Country Representative of PNAfrica Sierra Leone Chapter said they had contracted Momodu Lamin Deen Rogers to develop a Legislative Compendium of the Fifth Parliament in respect of certain benchmarks to be at per with other progressive Parliaments in the globe.

Speaking on behalf of the Clerk of Parliament, Director of Programmes, Research and Partnership, Gilbert N’habay said it was a watershed moment and that the Legislative Compendium would serve as a baseline for the Sixth and future Parliaments in the Republic of Sierra Leone.

Hon. Members and Staff of Parliament who took part in the exercise made some inputs and recommendations and promised to do justice to the exercises aimed at validating the Legislative Compendium of the Fifth Parliament of the Second Republic of Sierra Leone.

Director of Parliamentary and Public Relations Department, Sheku Lamin Turay moderated the exercise.
