The Motema Division of the Sierra Leone Police is investigating serious allegations of gang rape made against Abass Jawara and several associates.

According to police sources, statements have been obtained from the complainant, Mrs. Juliet Issa, and two additional witnesses. The alleged incident is reported to have occurred at the private residence of Madam Diana Finda Konomanyi in Koidu City.

Police are seeking clearance from Madam Konomanyi to visit and examine the alleged crime scene as part of their ongoing inquiries.

Mr. Francis Ganda, Line Manager of the Family Support Unit at the Motema Police Station in Kono District, confirmed to Global Times newspaper that the unit is treating the matter with seriousness. He stated that investigations are actively underway following the complaint lodged by Mrs. Juliet Issa and her spouse, Mr. Sahr Issa, both of Sandor Chiefdom.

Reports indicate the alleged incident occurred in the aftermath of disputed APC ward elections held in Sandor Chiefdom on 22 February 2026. Both the complainants and the accused individuals are said to be members of the APC in Kono District.

Police have emphasized that investigations are ongoing and that no conclusions have yet been reached. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
