Security forces in Kabala have invoked Military Aid to Civil Power (MAC-P) following deadly ethnic clashes between Limba and Koranko communities in Lengekoror village, Koinadugu District.

The violence, which erupted on Saturday, May 17, 2025, reportedly stemmed from a land dispute and resulted in multiple fatalities and serious injuries.

According to police updates, calm was restored by 7:00 AM on Sunday after joint security deployments were reinforced in the area. The Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), through its 12th Infantry Battalion, dispatched personnel to support the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) in managing the volatile situation. These joint patrols and deployments aim to maintain peace and prevent any further escalation.

The MAC-P protocol, which allows military support for civil authorities during times of emergency, has been officially activated in Lengekoror and its surrounding communities until further notice.

Police operations in the area are currently being led by Sub-Inspector Momoh Sesay of the Operational Support Division (OSD), who is overseeing monitoring and stabilization efforts on the ground.

Authorities are urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with the security forces as investigations and peace-building measures continue.
