The Sierra Leone Police on Saturday, 9 May 2026, deployed personnel across the country to provide security during the National Primary School Examination (NPSE), as part of ongoing interagency collaboration aimed at ensuring a peaceful and secure learning environment.

According to the Sierra Leone Police, the nationwide security operation was designed to maintain law and order at examination centres, while ensuring the safety of pupils, examination officials, and school authorities throughout the conduct of the examinations.

Police officers were strategically stationed at various examination centres nationwide to regulate movement, prevent examination malpractice, and support the smooth coordination of activities during the examination process.

The deployment formed part of broader efforts by the police to create an enabling environment for candidates to sit their examinations peacefully and without disruption.

The NPSE is regarded as a major stage in Sierra Leone’s education system, as it determines the transition of pupils from primary to secondary education.

In recognition of the importance of the examination, the Sierra Leone Police reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national development initiatives, particularly within the education sector.

The police further emphasized that maintaining security during national examinations remains an important responsibility in safeguarding the integrity of the education system and ensuring public confidence in the conduct of examinations across the country.
