The Homicide Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has confirmed the arrest of Richie Obama, a popular comedian and close friend of the late Victor Onie Williams.
The suspect is currently assisting the police with their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Williams’ death.
Obama’s legal representatives are expected to arrive at the CID headquarters today, according to official sources.
The late Victor Onie T. Williams, a well-known figure in Freetown, will be laid to rest today following a funeral service at the Living Water Ministries International, located at 48 College Road, Congo Cross. The service is scheduled to commence at 1:00 PM.
Family members, friends, and other mourners gathered last night for a vigil at Williams’ former residence on Hill Street, off Wesley Street, at 7:00 PM. The sober occasion drew a large crowd of grieving supporters who came to pay their final respects.
This morning, a laying-out ceremony is being held at the New City Hall, Fourth Floor Auditorium, within the Freetown City Council Building on Wallace Johnson Street. The event began at 9:00 AM and offers an opportunity for family members and the public to view the body and bid farewell.
The police investigation continues as the family and community mourn the untimely loss of Victor Onie Williams.
