The Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) experienced a significant power outage during a live phone interview with the Minister of Information, Chernoh Bah, causing the broadcast to go dark abruptly.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding the reliability of the electricity supply in Freetown.

Earlier this month, the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) announced a load-shedding schedule for March 2025, aimed at addressing persistent electricity supply challenges in the Western Area.

EDSA assured the public that no customer would face electricity outages exceeding 72 consecutive hours. However, many residents have reported irregularities in electricity supply across various parts of the city.

The recent disruption during a live broadcast underscores the urgent need for improvements in the electricity infrastructure to ensure reliable service for both residents and essential services like media outlets.
