The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has announced major power outages affecting several regions, including Freetown, Kenema, Lungi, and Lunsar, due to faults and equipment failures. Efforts to resolve the issues are underway, with varying timelines for resolution.

In Freetown, multiple disruptions have been reported. An earth fault in Aberdeen and a faulty 250kVA transformer at Looking Town, Kissy Village, have left these areas without power. Burnt low voltage cables at Regent and Obama communities, as well as an MV riser cable at Lumley Health Care Center, have compounded the situation. EDSA has assured residents that all faults will be resolved by December 4, 2024, with some repairs expected by December 3, 2024.

In Kenema, a one-month timeline has been set to replace a faulty 1.6 MVA transformer that has led to load-shedding programs across affected areas. Additional faults include a damaged 250kVA transformer impacting the Combema community, expected to be fixed by December 4, 2024, and vandalism of a 630 MVA transformer affecting Koroma Street, which should be resolved by December 3, 2024.

In Lungi and Lunsar, residents are experiencing power outages as EDSA awaits intervention from the Electricity Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC). No specific resolution date has been provided.

EDSA encourages affected customers to report outages via the helpline 672 or visit the nearest primary substation for assistance. These outages have disrupted daily activities, highlighting the urgent need for infrastructure improvements to ensure stable power supply.
