Rokel Commercial Bank has concluded its first quarter of Enterprise Risk management and compliance training for staff today, 11th February, 2023.
The bank’s extensive course on Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Compliance for the first quarter of 2023 targeted various staff from different branches and departments facilitated by the Enterprise Risk Management Consultant Sulaiman Dauda Lumeh on the 8th, 9th and 11th of February 2023. It is part of the continuous training programs of the bank to meet the recent challenges of the banking sector in Sierra Leone.
The well-equipped training Center of RCBank is headed by two seasoned bankers; Mrs. Genevieve Bright and Olabumi Mackay-Lengor.
In recent past years, the leadership of the Training Center of RCBank has contributed immensely to building the Human Capital Resources of the bank and in collaboration with the Human Resources Department has also seen external training for several staff of the bank to meet the current needs of the industry and to respond to the needs of technology and innovative drive.
In the just concluded courses, staff have benefited and equipped themselves in the area of Enterprise Risk Management Course, which specifically deals with risk identification, assessment, profiling, quantification, the likelihood of risk occurring, impacts of risks, and mitigation strategies of risk at all levels of the banks’ units and departments.
Considerably, contributions from staff during the course program and their physical expressions are all signs of motivation and comprehension of the objective of the training workshohp. The goodwill and reputation of the bank are not only seen in the areas of operations and customer satisfaction, but also in the areas of training, development, talent management, and building the human capital resources of the bank.
Among the several objectives of the bank, this is one which the bank strives to maintain and to continuously be on top of the echelon side of the competitive space and in the maintenance of the training differentiation strategy.
Meanwhile, a major indication that the bank is working at effective ERM is the presence of a Risk Director who coordinates the Enterprise Risk Management efforts of the bank.
As Rokel Commercial Bank (RCBank) originated from Barclays Bank International which founded Barclays Bank DCO in Sierra Leone way back in the earlier years of the 20th Century and still maintains its leadership differentiation strategy in training leadership among other banks in Sierra Leone. This is more evident under the supervision of Dr. Ekundayo Walton Gilpin to take the lead on most training sessions of the bank to meet the recent technology and innovative drive in the banking sector.
It is no secret that modern businesses face a diverse set of risks and potential dangers, the bank’s ERM calls for units and departments of the bank to identify all risks they face as this will help management to decide how and when to manage risks based on their consequences and impact. It is undoubtedly true that the Bank of Choice (RCBank) maintains its reputation and goodwill in its training strategies and methodologies in meeting the requirements of the banking sector in Sierra Leone.
