The Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) has denied reports suggesting that the government is not supporting soldiers with their regular supply of take-home rice.
Speaking at a press briefing, the Director of Defence, Public Relations and Communication, Colonel Issa Bangura, said there has been a rise in claims coming from newspapers, social media, and personal comments aimed at creating confusion within the military and security sector.
“People are saying the government is not taking care of the Armed Forces,” Colonel Bangura said. “They are using things like take-home rice as an example.”
He made it clear that there is no problem with the rice supply. “I have received mine, and I’m now waiting for the June rice,” he said. “All personnel will receive theirs by the first week of June.”

Colonel Bangura also confirmed that troops deployed in the border areas, including Sokoma and Penguia Bendu near Yenga, have already received their rice, and it was delivered on time.
He warned that spreading false claims can affect the morale of soldiers and cause unnecessary worry among the public.
