The Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) has taken another step in its institutional reform programme with the signing of a Performance Management Contract by its Chief Utility Director, Ing. Abdul Ben Lebbie, as the utility intensifies efforts to improve accountability, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability.
The contract was signed as part of SALWACO’s broader strategy to strengthen performance management and enhance service delivery across the institution.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, SALWACO Managing Director, Ing. Tiideni Hawa Jabbi, described the initiative as a key component of the company’s ongoing transformation agenda. She said the performance management system is intended to improve staff accountability, boost productivity, and ensure that employees remain focused on achieving clearly defined performance targets.
Jabbi disclosed that Technical Directors will also sign their Performance Management Contracts, while Regional Managers, Station Managers, and other key utility personnel are expected to complete the process by the end of the week.
According to the Managing Director, the initiative is expected to improve revenue generation and collection by strengthening individual and institutional accountability. She noted that enhanced performance across the organisation will contribute significantly to SALWACO’s goal of becoming a more efficient, functional, and financially viable public utility.
The latest development follows a one-day Performance Management Contract Reporting Training held last week at the Makeni Station Conference Room. The training brought together Technical Directors, Regional Managers, and Station Managers to build their capacity in performance reporting and support the effective implementation of the new performance management framework.
SALWACO said the Performance Management Contract is a central part of its ongoing reform programme, which seeks to improve operational performance, increase revenue collection, enhance service delivery, and position the company as a sustainable and customer-focused utility.
