Sierra Leone Embassy in Dakar, Senegal, hosted Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh during a courtesy visit on Monday, 29th June 2026.
Chief Minister Sengeh is attending the 2026 Yidan Prize Conference and delivering a keynote address on “Unleashing Africa’s potential: The role of education in a new era of development.”
During his visit, Ambassador Ibrahim Turay welcomed the Chief Minister and the delegation, briefing them on embassy activities and progress in economic and trade diplomacy and in digitising consular services.

Ambassador Turay highlighted the Senegal Trade Fair, held annually in December, noting that Sierra Leone could utilise the opportunity to trade products such as palm oil, which is widely needed in Senegal.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Moinina Sengeh gained insight into bilateral benefits from recently signed trade and mining agreements between Sierra Leone and Senegal.
Finally, during the embassy tour, Chief Minister Sengeh had an engagement with Serigne Mbaye Thiam, former Minister of National Education and former Minister for Water and Sanitation in Senegal, who is the GPE High-Level Envoy and Advisor for Education.

According to Chief Minister Sengeh, “He and I go way back, and he serves as my adviser and mentor. We discussed Sierra Leone’s role and global leadership in advocacy for education.”
