In a significant move to enhance sustainable energy management, the Sierra Leone Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission (SLEWRC) has launched a nationwide energy sensitization campaign. The initiative, backed by the World Bank, is being carried out in collaboration with the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) and is implemented by JenMaa Data and Information Management Consultancy Firm.
The campaign aims to promote energy efficiency and protect the nation’s energy assets by raising public awareness on key issues such as energy use, management, and the prevention of energy theft. By educating the public on best practices for energy conservation, the initiative seeks to instill a sense of responsibility among citizens to safeguard Sierra Leone’s energy resources.
SLEWRC officials highlighted the importance of this campaign in ensuring the sustainability of the country’s energy sector. With energy theft and mismanagement posing significant challenges, the initiative is expected to play a critical role in addressing these issues and promoting a culture of energy conservation nationwide.
The campaign marks a major step forward in Sierra Leone’s efforts to secure its energy future, aligning with broader government goals of sustainable energy management.
