The Government of Sierra Leone has announced that completion of the Health Declaration and Travel Information Form via the Sierra Leone Health Travel Portal is now strictly mandatory for all arriving and departing passengers.

The official public travel advisory, issued by the Ministry of Health and the National Public Health Agency (NPHA) on June 18, 2026, aims to strengthen public health surveillance and ensure the early detection and control of communicable diseases.

According to the official document, the new mandate applies to all travellers without exception. This includes Sierra Leonean citizens, foreign nationals, Residents returning to Sierra Leone, and visitors arriving in or departing from the country

The NPHA has outlined three critical steps that travellers must follow to ensure compliance and avoid disruptions to their journey: All travellers must access the online portal, register, and submit their health declaration form within 72 hours before their scheduled travel.

Secondly, Passengers must ensure their final updated seat number is accurately filled out in the system.

And Travellers must retain their confirmation QR Code or reference number and present it to authorities upon request during travel.

The advisory warns that providing false, inaccurate, or misleading information could lead to severe consequences, including travel delays, denial of entry or departure clearance, or being subjected to additional public health screening procedures.

Furthermore, designated Point of Entry personnel may conduct physical health screenings upon arrival and provide additional guidance as necessary. For passengers experiencing technical difficulties with the digital portal, the NPHA noted that assistance will be available from designated health personnel at all official Points of Entry and Exit.

The government emphasizes that compliance with these new regulations is vital to maintaining national and global public health security, ensuring an efficient and safe travel experience for everyone.
