The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has taken disciplinary action against 24 of its officers for prolonged absence from duty without leave. The officers were dismissed with immediate effect, effective September 24, 2024.
In a public notice issued by the SLP, it was stated that the affected personnel had been absent for more than 21 days, violating Section 26(1) of the Police Disciplinary Regulations 2001. As a result, their services were terminated.
The SLP also mandated that all police-issued property, including certificates of appointment, firearms, ammunition, and identification badges, be recovered from the dismissed officers.
