The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) has announced the official handing-over ceremony of leadership from outgoing president Ahmed Sahid Nasrala to newly elected president Alhaji Manika Kamara.

Since the election of President Alhaji Manika Kamara, his administration has recently held an orientation for the incoming National Executive in Kenema District. This engagement was introduced by the Former President of SLAJ, Kelvin Lewis, in 2016 to promote smooth transition and strengthen leadership cohesion.

Also, the President-Elect of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), Alhaji Manika Kamara, participated in a high-level validation workshop organised by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Abuja, Nigeria.

He was nominated by the Federation of African Journalists (FAJ) to represent Sierra Leone in this important regional dialogue.

Additionally, during his election, President Manika secured a total of 309 votes, comfortably defeating his close opponent, Mustapha M. K. Sesay, who polled 153 votes.

The Handing over ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, 11th July 2025, at the Bintumani Hotel, Aberdeen, Freetown, at around 4:00 pm.
