The Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute (SLARI) Management on Tuesday received Dr. Kabore Bila Roger, a consultant from the West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development (CORAF), on a courtesy visit ahead of his scheduled field assessment at the Rokupr Agricultural Research Centre (RARC).

The visit forms part of the evaluation of the Food Systems Resilience Program Sierra Leone (FSRP-SL) under Sub-component 2.1, which focuses on strengthening research centres, enhancing research and development networking, modernizing extension services, and promoting technology access and exchange.

The engagement provided SLARI leadership with the opportunity to brief the CORAF consultant on the implementation progress and impact of FSRP-SL activities across the country’s agricultural research centres, while also preparing for the forthcoming on-site assessment at RARC.

During the meeting, Dr. Abdul R. Conteh presented a comprehensive overview of the project’s implementation, highlighting achievements in research capacity building, improvements in extension services, and initiatives aimed at facilitating technology transfer between research institutions and farming communities.

According to SLARI officials, the evaluation is expected to assess the extent to which the project’s objectives are being translated into measurable outcomes at the Rokupr Agricultural Research Centre and across SLARI’s broader network of research institutions.

Dr. Kabore is expected to proceed with the field visit to RARC, where he will engage with centre staff, review project documentation, and assess ongoing activities under the programme.

SLARI reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the evaluation process by granting the assessment team access to project sites, data, and other relevant materials required for a comprehensive review.

The institution further disclosed that a summary of the evaluation findings will be shared upon completion of the field mission.
