After a series of consultation between the government and stakeholders in the road transport sector, the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) has reviewed and revised tariffs on passenger vehicles.
The Executive Director of SLRSA Rev. Smart K. Senesie made this disclosure in a live interview on AYV television and radio.
He disclosed that the increase in tariffs came after Autospect commenced vehicle fitness inspection and other related services agreement which was signed in 2017 with a lot of grey areas that have been reviewed under his leadership.
He further expressed his determination to improve service delivery in the authority and highlighted some of the major achievements of his one year in office, which includes; the establishment of highway management, a toll-free line, and a post-crash response unit to handle victims of road traffic crashes.
The Director also spoke about the increase of fake licenses over the years, disclosing that twelve (12) staff were dismissed after a proper investigation was conducted into the matter.
He concluded by stating that the authority has made it mandatory for all applicants to provide their National Identification Number (NIN) before they are issued a driver’s license.
