Media Tech Company has donated 20 smart solar streetlights to the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) to strengthen safety and operational capacity across key police facilities.

The donation was presented by Media Tech’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Walid, who said the initiative is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility efforts to improve security infrastructure. He highlighted that reliable lighting is essential for creating a safer working environment and supporting effective policing.

Receiving the donation, Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu expressed gratitude, describing the contribution as timely and impactful. He recalled Media Tech’s previous support in 2025, when the company donated 30 surveillance cameras installed at strategic locations across Freetown to enhance public safety.

IGP Sellu confirmed that the smart solar streetlights will be installed at the Sierra Leone Peacekeeping and Law Enforcement Academy, formerly the Police Training School in Hastings. With the academy preparing for upcoming recruitment exercises, the additional lighting is expected to improve security, visibility, and operational readiness during training and screening activities.

The Inspector General commended Mr. Walid for his continued support and urged other citizens and institutions to emulate the example, emphasizing that safety and security are collective responsibilities that benefit from public-private partnerships.

The handover ceremony concluded with the formal transfer of the smart solar streetlights to the Sierra Leone Police, marking another milestone in the ongoing collaboration between Media Tech Company and national security agencies.
