Andrew Bob Johnny, the newly appointed Statistician-General and CEO of Statistics Sierra Leone (Stats SL), has been elected unanimously to represent his country on the United Nations Statistical Commission.

This marks Sierra Leone’s second successive term on the highest statistical body of the UN.

Mr. Johnny’s four-year tenure on the commission will commence on January 1, 2024, and he recently attended the 54th session of the UN Statistical Commission in New York.

He expressed his honor at being elected and his commitment to raising Sierra Leone’s flag high on the commission.

“I feel honored to be elected to serve on the Commission. There can’t be a better way to start my tenure as SG than this. I will therefore give my best to ensure I raise the flag of Sierra Leone sky high on the commission,” he stated.

Replacing Prof. Osman Sankoh (Mallam O), who also served on the UN Statistical Commission for a three-year term, Mr. Johnny took over as SG/CEO of Stats SL.
