The Sierra Leone Association of Persons with Albinism (SLAPWA) has presented an appreciation certificate to the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs in recognition of the Ministry’s commitment to inclusivity.
The certificate was awarded in acknowledgement of the Ministry’s continued support to the association, particularly during the recently concluded Mr. and Miss Albinism Sierra Leone 2026 pageant.
The event, which celebrated the beauty and talent of persons with albinism, was widely regarded as a significant step forward in promoting social representation and inclusion in Sierra Leone.
Speaking during the presentation, representatives of the Ministry highlighted that the partnership forms part of a broader effort to ensure that the tourism sector remains accessible and welcoming to all Sierra Leoneans.
They noted that under the current leadership, the Ministry has increasingly focused on an inclusive framework aimed at integrating diverse and often marginalized groups into the national “Culture and Creativity” agenda.
The presentation ceremony also underscored the importance of cultural affairs beyond heritage, emphasizing the need to create a safe and supportive environment where every citizen can contribute to the country’s creative identity.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment from both the Ministry and SLAPWA to strengthen collaboration in dismantling barriers and promoting a more inclusive society.
