The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and the National Tourist Board has on Saturday 16th July, 2022 continued the training workshop for women in coastal risks areas and also distributed start-up kits to 50 women in Conakry-Dee, North-West Region, Port Loko District.
The exercise, which was supported by UNDP under the Gef Project, aimed at empowering these women to be self-reliant and abstain from destructive environmental practices. The workshop commenced at Lakka, Hamilton and Tombo community and continuing at Conakry-Dee, Shenge and Chepo.
Presenting the start-up kits to women at Conakry-Dee, Tourist Officer, Mohamed Barrie thanked the trainers and encouraged the trainees to use the start-up kits for the purpose it was given.
The women were trained on embroidery, gara tie dying and make up skills. Each trainee was given a start-up package of ribbons, beads, lappa, needles, threads, sticker, rubber bucket, rubber bowl, ink, soda, powder, brillion cloth, gloves, variety of small brushes for eye brow and lash, variety of small combs, set of face lotion, setting spray and a token of cash.
The jubilant women appreciated the Ministry and the Boarda for considering their community in this all important training. They assured that the skills learnt will beneficial to them and their families.
