Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Turkiye, Francess Virginia Anderson, led a delegation of Turkish investors to Parliament on Tuesday, the 19th of May 2026.
The delegation met with the Rt. Hon. Speaker Segepoh Solomon Thomas and the leadership of Parliament are to present their proposed investment plans for Sierra Leone.
Providing an update during the meeting, the Clerk of Parliament, Karmoh K. Conteh, informed the leadership of Parliament that on 12th May 2026, he received official correspondence from the Sierra Leone Embassy in Turkey through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The communication notified Parliament of the planned courtesy visit by the Turkish investors, whose objective is to expand bilateral economic cooperation with Sierra Leone.

The Clerk assured the delegation that the Sixth Parliament welcomes such engagements and remains committed to creating an enabling environment for investment in the country.
Furthermore, the Ambassador Dr. Francess Virginia Anderson expressed appreciation to the parliamentary leadership for the warm reception accorded to the delegation. She commended the Rt. Hon. Speaker, for his supportive stance and for ensuring that the proposed Turkish investments receive the necessary attention to yield tangible benefits for Sierra Leone. She noted that Sierra Leone was the first point of contact for these investors and urged the country to make full use of the opportunity to deepen economic ties.
Ambassador Virginia Anderson formally introduced the delegation to the Parliamentary leadership. The investors thanked the House for its hospitality and expressed satisfaction with the assurances provided regarding the security and protection of their proposed investments.

In his remarks, the Rt. Hon. Speaker Segepoh Solomon Thomas acknowledged the support of the entire parliamentary leadership in advancing a progressive and investor-friendly legislative agenda. He reassured the delegation that Sierra Leone is a peaceful and stable country, making it an attractive destination for investment.
“Sierra Leone is open for business. Be assured that your investments will be protected here, and our doors remain open whenever you need our support. The legislature will continue to ensure that the country remains investor-friendly,” Speaker Thomas stated.
The delegation expressed gratitude for the hospitality and reiterated its commitment to exploring viable investment opportunities in Sierra Leone, particularly in sectors that align with the country’s development priorities.
