Magistrate Shaka Kamara of the Magistrate Court No. 1 in Kenema has committed two accused persons, Ibrahim Mustapha, a 20-year-old motorbike mechanic, and Joseph Boima, an 18-year-old farmer, to the High Court for trial.

Both men, residents of Gbeworbu village, face charges of conspiracy and murder.

According to the prosecution, on Sunday, July 21, 2024, in the vicinity of Lalehun and Bumpeh villages, Lower Bambara Chiefdom, Kenema District, Mustapha and Boima allegedly conspired with others to commit a felony and subsequently killed one Mustapha Denis. Police are still searching for the other unknown conspirators. The court has committed the case to the High Court for further proceedings.

In a separate case, two other accused, Swaloh Fadiru, a 21-year-old commercial motorbike rider, and Alhaji Sam, 18, both residents of Kakajama Section in Kenema, appeared before Magistrate Kamara on charges of conspiracy and larceny, contrary to Section 13(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

The prosecution alleged that on Friday, September 6, 2024, at No. 10 Haja Hawa Lawa Sama Street, Kakajama Section, Fadiru and Sam conspired with unknown individuals to break into the dwelling house of Hawa Ngobeh. They allegedly stole a 45-inch black plasma TV valued at NLe 2,500, an amplifier worth NLe 1,750, and a DVD player valued at NLe 500, amounting to a total value of NLe 4,750.

No plea was taken, and both Fadiru and Sam have been remanded in custody at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre in Kenema. The matter has been adjourned to September 19, 2024, for further hearing.

The prosecution of both cases is being handled by Police Inspector Alphan Samuel Musa, attached to the Legal and Justice Support Department of the Kenema Police Station.
