The National Union of Sierra Leone Students in the Russian Federation (NUSS-RF) is facing allegations of financial mismanagement, with some members calling for an internal and external audit to investigate the executive committee.

A student activist identified as Sumah expressed concern over the alleged embezzlement, claiming it has created “a horrible, terrible, and suspicious situation” among members who are “patriotically yearning” for the union’s progress.

Sumah specifically requested “forensic audits” to investigate the alleged misuse of funds, highlighting the lack of “tangible, factual, and convincing submissions” from the executive committee. He further expressed worry about the union’s future, stating that the situation discourages potential members from “investing and being part of the union.”

Sumah also called for “compromised free audits” to establish a precedent and serve as a warning against future financial impropriety within the organization.

The NUSS-RF has not yet publicly responded to the allegations. It remains to be seen whether the union will address the concerns and initiate the requested audits.
