A three-day Corruption Risk Management (CRM) Workshop has been launched in Freetown by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in partnership with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the Ministry of Sport, to strengthen integrity, accountability, and corruption prevention within the Ministry.
The workshop aims to equip participants with practical skills to identify vulnerabilities to corruption, assess risks, and develop effective mitigation measures to enhance governance and improve service delivery.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, UNODC Representative Festus N.B.A. Robin-Taylor Esq. stated that the programme forms part of the second phase of UNODC’s Anti-Corruption and Peacebuilding Project in Sierra Leone. He noted that the Ministry of Sport has been selected as the pilot institution for the implementation of the Corruption Risk Management methodology.
ACC Deputy Director of Prevention, Samuel Muti-Marrah Esq., emphasised that Corruption Risk Management is a proactive approach that enables institutions to identify and address corruption risks before they occur, thereby promoting transparency, accountability, and institutional resilience.
The workshop, which runs from 1 to 3 July 2026, is expected to produce practical corruption risk mitigation plans aimed at strengthening governance within the Ministry of Sport.
