Yulisa Ahmadu popularly known as Dr. Love was appointed by His Excellency as Youth Envoy in the Ministry of Youths Affairs on the 25th May 2023.
Part of his responsibilities is to serve as a representative and advocate for the voices and interests of the Youth and any other duties assigned by His Excellency the President from time to time, either directly or through the Minister of Youth Affairs.
But contrary to the constitutional mandate of his designated position, information has it that, he used his political appointment to form a traveling scheme for people.
Under his traveling scheme, people with no official business pay through some agents, one of whom has come out by the name of Amy Berry for traveling purposes under his office.
It is believed that he collected over four hundred thousand dollars during these fraudulent activities, while some of his victims neither traveled nor secured visas.
As a ministry responsible for overseeing his activities, the Honorable Minister of Youths Affairs, Mohamed Orman Bangura, quickly detected Yulisa’s clandestine move following a series of complaints from the public.
According to his suspension letter, he accepted to have collected Thousands of Dollars from innocent people for traveling purposes which led the Ministry to immediately suspend him on the 6th of January, 2025 for six months while he was being investigated.
His suspension letter reads “this action has been taken due to alleged misconduct and Institutional misrepresentation carried out by you as the Youth Envoy representing this Ministry. This is inimical to the image of the Ministry and a lack of professionalism on your part as an appointee of His Excellency the President.
“Rule 15.51#13 of the Civil Service Code and Rules states that: Making of offering or accepting or receiving a bribe, soliciting gifts, or any other favour in connection with the discharge of official duties is an act of Major Misconduct.
“Furthermore, you accepted in my presence that you collected cash from youths to facilitate their travels overseas which did not happen, such an act contravenes your mandate (Serve as representative and advocate for the voices and interests of the Youth)”.
One of his accomplices, Amy Berry has come out with more evidence against Yulisa Amadu since all her effort for a refund of those monies have failed.
According to her TikTok video posted on her page, Yulisa used to convince his clients that, he worked with several top ministers just to create a realistic picture of his programs.
The Youth Minister Orrman Bangura should be commended for his proactive suspension of Yulisa which helped to save many would-be victims.
This calls for more scrutiny of those to be appointed in such position since their actions and inactions will directly impact the office of the President.
Suspension is not enough. He should be sacked and given a prison sentence.
