This brings to mind recent rogue videos doing the rounds on social media targeting the Managing Director of Sierra Leone’s most accomplished commercial bank – Rokel Commercial Bank (RCBank) on claims that the Bank was paying out incorrect or less amount of money to its customers.

Worth noting is the fact that the reputation of the RCBank Managing Director, Dr. Ekundayo Walton Gilpin is far above such pettiness and most people following the progress of the RCBank will readily agree that he will not condone such and if he does know and investigates the veracity of such claims, he will ensure that the heads of any one implicated shall surely roll.

This comes at a time when the RCBank MD and his dedicated team are working hard to maintain the transformation of the entity which is unarguably Sierra Leone’s most trusted and profitable bank.

It is understandable therefore that the RCBank has become the envy of other commercial banks across the country. Who knows, perhaps all this damn antics to rub mud on the RCBank and its MD is not the making of one of its competitors?

Be that as it may, hardly anything happens in Sierra Leone that comes as a surprise!

In addition, there are reports also targeting the RCBank and its MD on alleged refusal to produce its audit report.

This notion is not only ridiculous but also mischievous. For a sound financial expert of no mean standing like Dr. Gilpin that knows the importance of financial record keeping, it is rascally and even preposterous for anyone to suggest that he would deliberately withhold a report that shows the bank’s progress among other matters.

For those in the habit of tarnishing the reputation of hard-working people in our society, you must know that nemesis will meet with you one fine day.

As for Dr. Gilpin, he is not deterred by these recent attacks on the bank’s reputation which went viral on social media.

Being a devout Christian, he also believes that such attacks serve only to give him more impetus and zeal in maintaining the high position, credibility and accountability the RCB stands for.

It is no secret that these attempts on the RCB and its MD are coming from certain ill-motivated staff and their accomplices outside of the RCB. Their mission is to divert the attention of the hard working Managing Director and his dedicated team and at the same time diffuse the reputation and credibility of the bank.

But as long as there is a God, those behind these shenanigans will be exposed sooner than they think.
