As far as the people of Sierra Leone and members of the international community are concerned, the outcome of the June 2023 Presidential and Parliamentary elections is no longer in contention. The outcome of the 2023 elections is a done deal.

Nobody knows why, the defeated APC Presidential candidate Dr Samura Kamara, keeps talking about his determination to pursue electoral justice after the election results have been accepted by all and sundry. Perhaps, he is using this senseless campaign for electoral justice to remain politically relevant in the APC. Even the APC party have decided to put the issue of the 2023 elections behind them and move on.

It is now very clear that, the APC party is not prepared to give Dr Samura Kamara another opportunity to fly their flag in 2028. The party sees him as a serial loser and a liability.

Even Dr Samura Kamara’s friends and sympathisers in the media, civil society and even in the international community are no longer prepared to stick out their necks for him. Their confidence in him has waned. Even his political Godfather and mentor, Dr Ernest Bai Koroma, has lost faith in his ability to win a Presidential election in this country. He has abandoned him.

Dr Samura Kamara’s senseless campaign for electoral justice lacks traction and momentum. Some senior members of the APC party no longer see him as a winning horse. They are therefore, no longer prepared to stake their bets on him, especially after losing two consecutive Presidential elections in 2018 and 2023.

Dr Samura Kamara’s senseless campaign for electoral justice is a loser. He should retire from active party politics and assume the role of an elder statesman. That’s the most appropriate choice for him to make.

Dr Samura Kamara should stop fighting a losing battle. The fight for electoral justice is a loser.

May common sense prevail!
