The main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) has deferred its constituency elections, originally scheduled for Saturday, July 4, 2026, to Saturday, July 11, 2026.
According to the party, the postponement follows a consultative meeting with the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) and a subsequent advisory note issued by the commission on July 2, 2026.
In a public notice, APC National Secretary General, Lansana Dumbuya, Esq., said the adjustment does not weaken the party’s commitment to internal democracy, but rather reinforces its resolve to conduct credible and inclusive elections.
“The National Leadership wishes to reassure every APC member that this adjustment in the electoral timetable does not diminish our resolve. Rather, it reflects our enduring commitment to conducting elections that are peaceful, credible, inclusive, and worthy of the confidence reposed in our great Party,” he stated.
The party explained that the brief postponement is necessary to conclude internal consultations and administrative processes ahead of the polls.
It also urged all aspirants, delegates, and members to remain calm, law-abiding, and fully prepared for the elections now scheduled for July 11, 2026.
