In a tone of unhappiness, the Northeast regional Deputy Publicity Secretary of the main opposition All People’s Congress, Ibrahim Ishmael Jalloh on Thursday 19th October 2023 called on grassroots supporters of his party to remain calm and accept the outcome of the post-election dialogue.

Having observed and followed the reactions of people on social media and around my neighborhood regarding the outcome of the post-election dialogue, I felt compelled to talk to my people because it’s my role as Deputy Regional Spokesman of the party to convey vital information to the party and its membership,” the APC Deputy regional spokesman said.

In a nine-minute widely shared WhatsApp audio clip, Utaka as he is fondly called, said though the result of the dialogue was not the grassroots expectation he called on all to accept its outcome. The decision of the party’s leadership might not please the grassroots now, but Jalloh said the aftermath and or long-term effects would be positive. Even with their existence as a party, the Deputy spokesman said there are always people to mediate and make suggestions for the common good of all.

The APC has always said it is fighting to restore democracy in the West African nation which it accused the current administration of destroying.

In his message, Jalloh reminded his party members of the challenges one has to go through in restoring democracy.

“To restore democracy is not an easy thing and it’s not a one-day dialogue,” the APC strongman consoled his people. Surprisingly, from the onset of the entire process, he said he knew it would end this way because the role of the organizations that headed the dialogue was to bring peace and ensure there was a functioning government in the country.

He urged the grassroots not to allow what he called desperate politicians to use them for selfishness.

Very soon, Jalloh said desperate politicians are coming to use the outcome of the dialogue to cause mayhem in the party.

But I call on you all to remain calm and wait for the right time,” Jalloh said. “The outcome must not divide the party but rather must bring them together.”

The grassroots of the All People’s Congress received the outcome of the just concluded post-election dialogue with shock and there have been frustrations since the release of the final communique that ended the political standoff between the government of Sierra Leone and the leadership of the main opposition.

The APC party believes the June 24th election that saw President Bio winning a second term was rigged and until among other things another election is conducted the party said it won’t take part in all activities of governance.

However, the grassroots were left dumbfounded when news about the party’s leadership acceptance to work with the government of President Julius Maada Bio and a communique was signed to end the political impasse in the country. There have been reactions from across the board with party grassroots accusing the leadership of being weak and betraying them.
