Flagbearer aspirant of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC), Sylvia Olayinka Blyden, has outlined what she believes are key qualities the party’s candidate must possess to defeat the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) in the 2028 elections.
In a recent social media post, Blyden stated that the APC candidate should be “streetwise,” with the experience and knowledge to navigate potential challenges during the election period. She also emphasized that the individual must be naturally popular and highly intelligent, providing the necessary problem-solving abilities to address emerging issues.
Blyden further added that the flagbearer must be politically and historically knowledgeable, with a proven constitutional and procedural mindset. She warned that failure to select a candidate with these qualities could result in renewed calls for electoral justice in 2028.
In her own words, Blyden said:
“The ONLY WAY to beat SLPP in 2028 is a streetwise, naturally popular, highly intelligent, politically & historically knowledgeable person with a proven constitutional & procedural mindset as next APC Leader. Anyone else will just produce fresh cries for ‘Electoral Justice’ in 2028.”
