Voting has started at Kamatakha Polling Centre, just outside Kamakwie Town in Karene District, Northern Sierra Leone.

Sierraloaded understands that the voting process started a little bit late than the required 7 in the morning.

Our observer, Sorie Saio Sesay at the Kamatakha Polling Centre said voters were at the polling centre before dawn waiting to cast their ballots in Saturday’s multitier election.

The district has 13 chiefdoms in which 21 local council election will be conducted.

Also, there are five parliamentary seats up for grabs.

Karene is the home district of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, Samura Kamara.

Pre-election polls have predicted that the opposition party will get a resounding victory in the northern district.

Earlier on Friday afternoon the Electoral commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) announced that country will not be closed on polling day like in previous in elections.

In an address to observers and the press at their Bintumani communication hub in Aberdeen, the ECSL admonish citizens to go about their normal business after casting their ballots.
