The Presidential candidate for the main opposition party, All People’s Congress (APC), and the former President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma today, Sunday 16 April 2023 attended the memorial service of late Mama Macauley in Lunsar and offered prayers for Sierra Leone.
This was made known in a post shared on Samura Kamara’s Twitter account.
“Earlier today, our Presidential Candidate & Party Leader Dr Samura Kamara and our former President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma attended a memorial service in Lunsar to honour the late Mama Macauley and to pray for Salone,” the post reads.
It adds that, “Our hope for a brighter future for Sierra Leone lies in our commitment to peaceful, free, and fair elections for 2023.”

Samura Kamara served as Minister of Finance and then Minister of Foreign Affairs under President Ernest Bai Koroma (2007-2018). He was selected by the former president to lead the APC in the 2018 elections. However, he was defeated by the current President, Julius Maada Bio in the presidential runoff.
Kamara is expected to go again against Bio in the upcoming elections in June, even though he is going through a corruption trial.
