Questions are mounting over the absence of former presidential candidate Dr. Samura Kamara from funeral events honouring the late All People’s Congress (APC) National Chairman, Hon. Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, who passed away on 15th June 2026 in Dakar, Senegal.
While President Julius Maada Bio, First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, and other senior political figures have been seen signing condolence books and attending mourning activities, Dr. Kamara’s absence has sparked public discussion among party supporters and political observers.
The late Chairman Mansaray, described by former President Ernest Bai Koroma as “the soul of the party,” played a pivotal role in steering the APC through challenging periods and was widely respected as a unifying figure. He served as Minister of Labour and later Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources under the Koroma administration.
Dr. Kamara did issue a public condolence message following Mansaray’s death, expressing deep sorrow and extending sympathies to the bereaved family and APC members.
“Death humbles us all and reminds us that, beyond the roles we play in our public and private lives, we are first, human beings, bound together by our shared mortality and by our faith in the mercy of the Almighty Allah,” he stated.
Reports say Dr. Kamara also dispatched a high-powered delegation to the family home, where they presented a donation of Le 20,000,000 and expressed condolences on his behalf. The delegation, representing the APC-Electoral Justice team, was received by the late Chairman’s wife, Madam Mabinty Mansaray, and other family members.
Despite these gestures, Dr. Kamara’s physical absence from funeral proceedings has drawn attention. Some supporters have speculated about scheduling conflicts or security concerns, while others have noted that Mansaray was reportedly among those who opposed Kamara’s presidential ambitions.
No official explanation has been provided for Dr. Kamara’s absence from the funeral events.
