The Presidential Candidate of the Revolutionary United Front Party (RUFP), Abdulaihi Dougakoro Saccoh said he is grateful after his party polled 6,796 votes in the just concluded Presidential Election.

In an interview with Awoko Newspaper, Saccoh said the votes he polled in this year’s election is “good start” despite the limited resources.

He said they will need to build from what they secured in this year’s election for the future.

Saccoh said one of the things that has been affecting their party is the perceived propaganda against their party.

The RUFP is an offshoot of the Revolutionary United Front, a rebel group that fought against the Sierra Leone military and allies for a decade.

Although, the party is reformed and has been a key part of the democratic space for nearly two decades, the local population still harbours some amount of distrust.

Saccoh said this together with an added budget like the two main parties, the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and the All People’s Congress (APC), the RUFP could perform better.

The party is among the few that fielded candidates in the country.

Their candidates contested for parliamentary and local council seats in Karene, Kenema, Kailahun and Freetown.

The RUFP Presidential Candidate said the party is already working to perform better in the next elections which will take place five years from now in 2028.
