Sierra Leonean footballer Alpha Bedor Conteh, a forward for the Leone Stars, has recently voiced his dissatisfaction with his limited playing time at Neftchi Baku, a professional football club in Azerbaijan.

Conteh, predominantly playing as a left-winger, had earlier inked a two-and-a-half-year deal with an additional year option at Neftchi Baku.

Taking to his social media platforms, Conteh shared his frustrations with a post, stating, “I don’t like to go to someone and say ‘why I don’t play,’ whether he is a head coach or a club official. I don’t want to blame my problem on the team. Let me keep that in me. We need to give more chances to the young footballer to believe in himself and increase his experience. If you don’t do these, nothing will work. Let him sit in the back, let him get a chance for 5-10 minutes near the end, this is nothing. I want to play more! If it continues like this until the end of the season, I will decide. I say again, I love Neftchi and I want to help my team. I’m willing to give everything to win, just to play alone.”

Conteh’s professional journey saw him start with Central Parade Football Club in the Sierra Leone Premier League before stints in Israel and Bulgaria prior to his move to Azerbaijan. Notably, he had signed a new deal with Bulgarian top-tier club Lokomotiv Plovdiv before joining Neftchi Baku.

Previously, Conteh showcased his skills while playing for FC Hapoel Rishon Lezion in Israel.

Having made his senior debut for the Sierra Leone National Team in a friendly match against Algeria, Conteh’s eagerness to contribute on the field reflects his dedication to both his club and country.
