Renowned political analyst and senior journalist Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden has publicly accused her political rival, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, of theft during a live radio interview, escalating tensions within the All People’s Congress (APC).
Blyden made the remarks when asked whether she would support Aki-Sawyerr if she were to emerge as the APC’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections. Responding bluntly, Blyden rejected the possibility, stating: “Astaghfirullah, it is not possible – a thief like Yvonne.”
The comments immediately drew attention, given the high-profile status of both women within the party and the growing contest over its future leadership.
Blyden insisted she was not making a baseless accusation, pointing to what she described as past conduct by Aki-Sawyerr. She cited an instance in which Aki-Sawyerr reportedly complained after her finance officer was transferred, arguing that such a reaction raised suspicions and justified her claims.
The remarks have sparked debate among APC supporters and political observers, with some condemning the language as inflammatory, while others view it as a reflection of deepening divisions ahead of the party’s anticipated flagbearer race.
Neither Aki-Sawyerr nor her representatives have publicly responded to the accusations as of the time of publication.

Aki Sawyer is a woman of substance nobody should try to bring her down.
Sylvia should learn to control her tongue. She’s dam too mature then any other woman her political party.
Sylvia will be be a good leader check anyone who’s always full of criticism about someone’s leadership.
Sylvia Blyden, why are you exhibiting so much uncouth & uncivilized behavior against that cultured woman? It’s been observed that you’ve always been at the throat of our mayor & keep persisting even though she’s remained silent & always avoided retaliating against your rash & unnecessary assault against her person. Why can’t you stop bullying that cultured woman? You have always exhibited that puffed up air of superiority and you go with the know-it-all attitude while lacking any sense of decency. In your own political mindset, do you think it bodes well for the unity & solidarity of the party as you display so much antagonism & gross disregard for the personality of a female member of the same party? Worse still, in the open,publicly. No wonder the first lady bluntly disregarded you in her statement of preference for Akie-Sawyerr over you. Why can’t you stop misbehaving that way as if you own that party? You better tender an apology to that gentle woman or make yourself scarce. Who will vote for a loose & arrogant personality like you for presidency, if you act this way out of power; imagine what you will do as a president? God forbid that day.
