The Sierra Leone national football team has successfully arrived in the Liberian capital, Monrovia ahead of AFCON Qualifier clash with Super Eagles of Nigeria.

According to the Sierra Leone FA, the team departed the Southern city of Bo in the early hours of Thursday for Liberia.

The team is made up of both foreign and home-based players from the local league.

“Coach Keister’s final 25-man squad featuring 11 foreign-based and 14 home-based players will travel through the Sierra Leone-Liberia border,” the SLFA said.

The match is scheduled for Sunday evening at the Samuel K. Doe Stadium in Monrovia.

Sierra Leone will need a win to up their chances of qualifying for the finals in Ivory Coast next year.

A draw would be enough to see Nigeria qualify.

Leone stars are currently in third position with just five points after four games.

Fellow contender and group leader, Guinea-Bissau will play against Sao Tome and a win for them and a draw for Nigeria could see Sierra Leone miss out in Africa’s premier competition next year.
