German-Sierra Leonean football player, Antonio Rüdiger has been nominated for the Ballon d’or Socrates Award.

His nomination comes after his excellent humanitarian work with the Antonio Rüdiger Foundation.

The Foundation has previously worked with medical humanitarian organisation, Big Shoe to treat children with medical issues.

The Real Madrid Defender is nominated alongside fellow teammate, Vinicius Jr., Marcus Rashford, Asisat Oshoala and Alex Morgan.

The award is to recognise the work of football players outside the game.

It was inaugurated in 2022 with Sadie Mané of Senegal becoming the first winner.
