Babadi Kamara, Executive Chairman of Bo Rangers and a leading candidate for the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) presidency, has made a substantial contribution to the Kono District Football Association (KDFA) by supporting the Inter-Chiefdom Football Competition with NLe 150,000 and 47 footballs.

The tournament’s second edition kicked off on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Koidu Community Playing Field, with Kamara receiving a warm reception from a jubilant crowd. Accompanied by district and regional football stakeholders, social groups, and influential figures in the football fraternity, Kamara underscored his commitment to unifying and uplifting the sport in Sierra Leone.

Kono District Football Association Chairman Abubakarr Mansaray expressed gratitude for Kamara’s support, emphasizing the competition’s role in fostering unity among the district’s 14 chiefdoms and nurturing young talent. “This contribution is a testament to Kamara’s dedication to football development,” Mansaray stated.

Ibrahim Kuyateh, Acting Vice Chairman of the Eastern Region Football Association, echoed these sentiments, commending Kono’s hospitality and reaffirming the region’s support for Kamara’s SLFA presidential bid. Kuyateh revealed that the nine regional delegates were unanimously backing Kamara, describing him as a “Godsend” to Sierra Leonean football.

In his address, Kamara reflected on his deep ties to Kono, citing the district as a significant part of his personal and professional journey. “This is not about ambition but about giving back to where it all began for me. From infrastructure projects like the clock tower to support for Diamond Stars, my commitment to Kono’s progress is unwavering,” Kamara stated.

He also emphasized fair play, good behavior, and the need to eliminate violence and drug abuse in football. Kamara laid out his vision for developing the sport nationwide, ensuring every region, including Kono, benefits from enhanced infrastructure and talent cultivation.

Paramount Chief PC Soloko lauded Kamara’s contributions and offered blessings for his SLFA presidential aspirations, emphasizing that his leadership would benefit the sport across Sierra Leone.

The Inter-Chiefdom Football Competition continues to foster unity and provide a platform for young players, with Babadi Kamara’s support serving as a significant boost to the district’s football ambitions.
