The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced that FIFA has officially approved the organization of a Goalkeeper Coaching Course in Sierra Leone, marking a significant step forward in the country’s football development.

Scheduled to run from April 13 to April 17, 2026, the course will take place at the SLFA Secretariat in Kingtom, Freetown.

It is designed to equip local coaches with modern training methodologies and specialized knowledge in goalkeeper development an area often overlooked in grassroots and professional football.

According to the SLFA, this initiative forms part of FIFA’s ongoing commitment to strengthening technical expertise and enhancing capacity-building programs across its member associations. By focusing on goalkeeper coaching, the program aims to raise standards at all levels of the game in Sierra Leone, from youth academies to national teams.

Aspiring coaches and football stakeholders are invited to collect application forms beginning Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the SLFA Secretariat between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM daily.

With limited spaces available, the association is encouraging early applications to ensure participation.

The introduction of this specialized course is expected to have a lasting impact on Sierra Leone’s football landscape. By providing coaches with advanced skills and knowledge, the SLFA hopes to foster stronger player development pathways and improve the overall competitiveness of Sierra Leonean football.
