In a recent development, FIFA, in a letter dated December 2, 2023, has urged the postponement of the much-anticipated launch of the FIFA Football for Schools (F4S) project in Sierra Leone.
The global football governing body cited “underlying security risk” within the country as the primary reason behind this decision.
Originally slated for the 4th, 5th, and 6th of December in Makeni City, the launch of this transformative project has been officially deferred to a later date in 2024. Detailed information regarding the rescheduled event will be communicated in due course.
Expressing regret over any inconvenience caused, the Sierra Leone Football Association underscores its unwavering commitment to the F4S project. The initiative aims to provide Sierra Leonean school children with unique educational and football opportunities, aligning with the association’s vision for youth development through sports.
While this postponement might bring momentary disappointment, the SLFA reassures its dedication to ensuring a successful implementation of the FIFA Football for Schools project in Sierra Leone, fostering educational and sporting growth among the country’s youth.
