The Sierra Leone Cricket U-19 side will tomorrow Saturday, 1st October 2022 open the ICC Men’s U-19 World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifier against Rwanda after the match against Botswana was deferred due to the late arrival of their counterpart.
Before departing for the qualifier the Sierra Leone Cricket Under-19 side had several months of preparation including friendly matches against the Senior Men’s Patriot, the qualifier is hosted at the MKO Abiola Cricket Oval in Abuja, Nigeria.
The Junior Men’s Patriot is in Group B together with the host nation Nigeria, Rwanda, and Botswana while battling with a total of eight countries for the three spots to progress into the Africa Division 1 Qualifier scheduled for 2023.
However, the Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) has asserted that they are yet to receive any support from the government through the Ministry of Sports and the National Sports Authority (NSA) which also prevented the team’s high-performance camping which would have been held at the Njala Mokonde Cricket ground, on the other hand, the government is yet to neither deny the allegations nor confirming their support
