Leone Stars Striker, Kei Kamara has expressed strong determination ahead of Sunday’s Match Against Ivory Coast. Leone Stars and Algeria currently lie with one point in the group While Ivory Coast enjoys three points from Equatorial Guinea.
After performing impressively against the Desert Foxes of Algeria, Kei Kamara has maintained that they are at the Africa Cup Nations tournament to compete and they want to keep on competing in the tournament.
Kamara made this statement at the Best West Plus Hotel where the Stars are camped.
He indicated that after the draw with the Algerians, the Sierra Leonean nation is expecting much from them and they are aware of it and they want to fix the errors in the training field ahead of their other crucial encounter with the Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire on Sunday.
He affirmed that they want to put up an even better performance to secure a win against their Sunday opponents.
“We know it’s going to be a tough game with the Ivorians, but we are determined as a team to take them in and equal points with them,” Kei Kamara asserted.
He pointed out that if they progress to the next round it will be good for both the team and the nation.
“We are looking forward to securing a win against the Elephants and we are going to achieve that with the style and perfection we have acquired in training before and now as a team,” Kei assured.
“All our strikers know how to score goals and I know we going to make use of our chances come on Sunday against Ivory Coast,” Kamara further assured.
He explained that they will start the match against the Elephants by defending from the back and moving on to attack as a team.
“That is the collectiveness we are looking forward to on Sunday,” Kei pointed out and called on all Sierra Leoneans to continue giving their supports to the team with togetherness, unity, and collectiveness both during the game and after the game.
Relatedly, Amidu Karim, the Assistant Coach of the Leone Stars has also relayed the readiness of the squad to face the Elephants “head-on”.
He disclosed that as part of the team’s preparedness for the Sunday encounter, they have watched videos of the games played by their Ivorian opponent, especially their last game with Equatorial Guinea to correct the mistakes they did against Algeria.
He expressed strong determination on behalf of the Star boys and an assurance that they will emerge victorious against the Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire.
“During training in the days to the game, we will work to correct all the mistakes we have identified and to fill the loopholes also identified in our match with the Algerians,” Assistant Coach Karim maintained, pointing out the postmortem in the Algerian match has put them on the technical side to employ fresh tactics and strategies to handle the Elephant boys.
“We know they are physically strong which might cause an impediment for us to penetrate their defense, but we are working on those possibilities to turn them into impossibilities, I can assure the Sierra Leonean public,” Coach Amidu further asserted.
Leone Stars will play the Elephant of Ivory Coast on Sunday 16th January.
