Nelson A Jay Vangahun, a passionate supporter of the Sierra Leone Premier League, has raised serious concerns about the integrity of the league’s management.

Vangahun has publicly criticized the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President, Thomas Daddy Brima, and his team, Wilberforce Strikers, over recent controversial decisions that he believes undermine the league’s fairness.

Last season, Wilberforce Strikers were controversially awarded six points, including one from a match where they were trailing against FC Kallon until the 85th minute. This unexpected boost enabled Wilberforce Strikers to escape relegation, while Kamboi Eagles, who were relegated, faced the consequences. This season, similar controversy has emerged. Wilberforce Strikers, again struggling in the relegation zone, have been awarded three crucial points. This decision has propelled them out of the relegation zone, notably disadvantaging FCFC, who have now fallen into the danger zone.

Vangahun’s allegations center on what he perceives as a troubling pattern of favorable decisions for Wilberforce Strikers, suggesting potential bias or corruption. He argues that these decisions undermine the competitive integrity of the league and unfairly affect other teams, especially those fighting to avoid relegation.

The SLFA, led by President Thomas Daddy Brima, has yet to respond to Vangahun’s allegations. However, the controversy raises critical questions about the governance and transparency of Sierra Leone’s top football league. As the season progresses, stakeholders and fans alike will be watching closely to ensure fair play and accountability in the league’s administration.
