Sierra Leone’s national football team, the Leone Stars, suffered a setback in their World Cup preparations as their planned friendlies against Sudan and Botswana have been cancelled.
A reliable source confirmed the news, stating both nations withdrew from the scheduled games.
The matches, previously set for March 22nd against Sudan and March 25th against Botswana were intended to help the Leone Stars prepare for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
While the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has yet to officially announce the cancellation, the team is expected to seek alternative opponents for matches before the qualifiers begin in June 2026.
